Complete Dictionary of Dreams

by Dr. Mıchael Lennox
You are trying to connect with the underlying structure of things in your life and how you are being supported.

The skeleton at the core of our bodies is the foundation on which the whole system is built. Since most of the human body is soft and moist, we rely on the solid, durable, calcium-based bone structure for what little solidity we feel. Nothing can be any stronger than the foundation that supports it. This foundational structure is normally invisible to us, so to be dreaming of bones is to be getting a glimpse of issues that are normally hidden but are now visible. Old bones might connect to issues in your past.

Vision: Looking at one or more bones: hard times are ahead— you are going to be “working your fingers to the bone.” Chewing on a bone: you might lose your job; it also means real worries that there won’t be enough to eat because of a lack of money. Throwing a bone to a dog: you are worried about someone and are actively helping that person—but your reward will be ingratitude.

See Skeleton.

Depth Psychology: The bone is a warning about becoming hard and emotionally “fossilized.” The dream also suggests being less rigid, not holding on so fiercely to old attitudes or social norms.

If a poor person sees bones in his dream, they denote his piety and fulfillment of his religious duties. Bones in a dream also represent one’s helpers, family, wife, children, vehicles and properties. Seeing one’s bones in a dream means exposing one’s secrets.

If one sees his bones turned ivory in a dream, it means that his wealth is gathered from unlawful money. Bones also could represent trees and their fruits, while their marrow represents one’s good character or knowledge. Bones in a dream also denote one’s fitness or sickness.
