A Dictionary of Dream Symbols
by Eric Ackroyd(1) Who is being buried? If it is someone close to you - for example, your partner - then some unconscious, buried resentment towards that person may be expressing itself. Don’t be alarmed by the discovery that your emotions towards the person are ambivalent: emotions often oscillate between opposite poles. Just ask yourself what it is you resent.
If it is something actually in the person, have it out with him or her. But is it something you have projected on to that person - some resentment against life in general, that has perhaps been with you since childhood? (For projection)
(2) Is it a (recurrent) dream of the actual burial of a real-life person - mother or father, perhaps? If so, you probably need to clear your emotional system of any troublesome feelings attached to that person - guilt, hatred, or whatever.
It is all right for the dead to live on inside you; but don’t let them disturb your peace.
If you love the person, there is no problem.
If you hate the person, learn to forgive: he or she probably did the best he or she could.
If the feeling is guilt, forgive yourself. Why expect the impossible?
(3) Is it you who are being buried in the dream? This may be a symbolic expression of a fear of being overwhelmed by unconscious forces.
If so, the first step should be to get (better) acquainted with any repressed emotions that are threatening - or seem to be threatening - to take control of you. This done, the next step would be to establish control over them. But this does not mean simply burying them again.
You may wish to trace the emotions back to their origins, to the experience that first gave rise to them. It may be that an objective appraisal will rob the emotions of their menacing power. Should you feel unable to cope with the emotions, consult a psychotherapist or an understanding friend.
(4) If it is you who are being buried it may be that the tomb is a w omb. That is to say, the burial may symbolize a mother-attachment that is preventing you from achieving a proper independence and fulfilling your individual ‘destiny’.
(5) The burial may represent a need for a radical reconstruction - a death and resurrection - of the self. All creation involves destruction: in order to shape the clay into the desired form, the potter must first destroy its existing form. The same applies to personal reconstruction: the old self must die - sometimes painfully - if the new’ self is to be born.

(6) Even if it is someone or something else that is being buried, that person or thing may symbolize some part of yourself that you have rejected and buried in your unconscious (for repression and suppression)

BURIAL - analysis of the dream
Joseph dreamed: “I was sitting in front of a black coffin, surrounded by strangers who were weeping and mourning the death of... I did not know who it was. I felt no sorrow, no pain, but the fact of not knowing who we were burying made me anxious, and still I did not dare to ask. Suddenly, I noticed that the coffin was open and I just had to get up from my chair to see noticed that the coffin was open and I just had to get up from my chair to see inside. My surprise was great when I saw myself dressed as a clown with a stupid grin on my face.”
Dreams about death announce changes or the end of a phase. Before this dream Joseph was a joker... too much! His friends and coworkers were always berating his heavy and tasteless jokes; however, he did not seem willing to change. Joseph took a few days to understand the message of his dream; a few months before, a friend of his had had a really hard time because of his jokes. The dream was announcing to Joseph a change of attitude, it was warning that: “If you do not want to lose all your friends and end up surrounded by strangers—like in the dream—you better bury your joker side.” After this, he knew he had to give way to a more staid Joseph and, of course, it was not fair that others will have a hard time because of his inappropriate attitude.
Islamic Dream Interpretation
by Ibn SeerinIf the other person places him inside a coffin in a dream, it means that he will move to a new home.
If the other person fills the grave with dirt on top of him in the dream, it means that he will be piled with money equal to the amount he is being buried under in the dream.
It is said that to be buried alive in a dream means losing one’s spirituality or religious commitment, unless one comes out of it alive.
If one walks out of his grave covered with dirt, then shakes off the dust in the dream, it means that his state is hopeless or that his repentance has little chance to hold.
To be buried alive in a dream means imprisonment or despise by others, or a severe punishment which makes one’s chastisement an exemplary lesson to others, If a gnostic or a wise man is seen buried alive inside his own house, or if he is brought out of it alive in a dream, it means that one will inherit him in knowledge, wisdom and status.
The same interpretation is given if one sees a prophet or a holy man walking out of his grave alive.
To be buried after death, after sunrise, at noon or at the sunset hour in a dream means that one is being warned about doing what is good and abstaining from what is evil.
To be buried alive in a dream is wrong and means betrayal. It could also mean marriage, prosperity or peace and tranquility after suffering and hardships. Ifone sees a deceased person burying him alive in a dream, it means that one’s due debts are not payed, or that one will be imprisoned to satisfy his debts, or that his collateral was not accepted.
To bury a dead person twice means that one is covering his faults.
If one sees a deceased person burying another deceased person in a dream, it means unity, clearing of the hearts, love and friendship between relatives, or perhaps it could mean imprisonment, marriage, a sickness, a trust, or guaranteeing a loan. Seeing oneself being buried after death in a dream means that one needs to repent before death. Should he still walk alive from his burial in the dream, it means that he may repent again. God knows best.
