Ten Thousand Dream Dictionary

by Pamela Ball
1- Thread in dreams represents a line of thought or enquiry. In terms of our ordinary everyday lives we perhaps need to follow that line to its end. Threading a needle has an obvious sexual reference. It can also, because of the perceived difficulty in threading a needle, suggest incompetence in ways other than sexual.

2- To be aware of thread is to be aware of the way our lives arc going.

A tangled thread suggests a difficulty which needs unravel- ling.

A spool of thread suggests an ordered existence.

The colour of the thread is important (see Colour).

A basket full of spools suggests the various aspects of a woman’s personality. This is because of its association with the Archetypal feminine.

3- The various threads of our spirituality are being interwoven the results of which will go some way to achieving the dreamer’s spiritual wholeness.

Vision: Winding a thread into a ball: you’ll need a lot of patience before you reach your goal. Unraveling a thread: with patience you will uncover a secret.

A black thread: unpleasantness and frustration.

A white thread: closer contact with some people.

A red thread: you are constandy repeating something—find out what it is. Seeing a long thread: something is being dragged out endlessly.

Depth Psychology: The thread is a sign of nervous tension or emotional weakness, and also of shyness and insecurity. Have you lost the thread in a certain matter? Or is it a momentary lack of concentration? Do you have a bad habit that is a thread running through your life? See also the chapter “Color in Dreams.”

Islamic Dream Interpretation

by Ibn Seerin
Holding a thread in one’s hand in a dream means looking for an alibi or a proof to support one’s argument and win a case. Twisting a thread, or tying it around someone neck, then dragging him or her in a dream represents a pimp soliciting clients for a prostitute. Knots in a thread mean sorcery or evil spells.

A white thread in a dream represents the dawn, and a black thread represents the night.
