1- A wake, in the sense of a funeral service, gives us an opportunity to grieve properly. When in dreams we find ourselves attending such an occasion, we need to be aware that there may be some reason in our lives for us to go through a period of grieving. We need to let go that which we hold dear.

2- In most religions, there is a period around a death when it is appropriate to express our feelings. Sometimes it is easier to do this in company and with the support of other people.

A wake such as this in a dream indicates we may need support to overcome a disappointment.

3- Spiritually, a wake signifies appropriate grief.

A significant part of the grieving ritual in many traditions, a wake is where we gather around the body of someone who has just passed in order to pay our respects and mark the beginning of the process of letting go. In this way, a wake in a dream signifies that something has been sacrificed that will undoubtedly need to be processed in some way, and you are put on notice that a cycle of change is just around the corner.

Dreaming about waking up (but remaining asleep) can simply be reflecting our anxiety about waking up in time. Awaking is also a common metaphor for realizing something. Also note possible idiomatic meanings, such as a “rude awakening,” a “wake up call,” or “wake up and smell the coffee.”
