Suicide

At a first glance this dream seems to be all negative. One would think that it connotes self hatred, deep depression, “giving up,” and other such negative thoughts and feelings. At times this may be the interpretation and if this is so for you please confined in a friend or a loved one and seek professional help. However, there is a lighter and much more positive interpretation of this dream. It could suggest that the dreamer is making progress and is becoming a more “integrated” person. All of us have many aspects to our personality and our character. Dreaming that you are committing suicide may be symbolic of you “killing” of one aspect of your self. Possibly an aspect of self that is hurtful.

For example if you were a smoker and you stopped smoking in your dream you may need to “kill” the smoker in yourself.

If you see a stranger committing suicide that may represent another part of you. You may be getting rid of an unnecessary and useless part of self, and you may be starting a new and a better way of doing things.

If you see someone that you know committing suicide, the dream may be symbolic of your perceptions and concerns about that individual. Either way, the dreamer may be experiencing stress, anxiety, and doubt, so lighten up and try to have more positive thoughts during the day.

Since its existence, suicide is a symbol of the destruction of the world. As widely popular Sartre’s doctrine preaches it, the value of reality is exclusively the scope of existence. However, in some cultures, like Japanese, suicide for ethical reasons is considered an honorable action.

Dreaming of suicide could symbolize an aggression against your person which you punish for some motive or need to remove an aspect of your character with that which you do not like. It also indicates, in some form, that you resist accepting the problems that are affecting you or living in a way against your desires. You should interpret this dream as a severe warning: you are not upholding your commitments and you try to avoid reality. Lastly, the act of destroying an object with which you identify could be a sign of the latent desire to suicide.

If you dream that you commit suicide, this suggests that conditions in your life are so frustrating that you are no longer willing to cope with a situation or relationship in the same way as you did in the past. This dream can also mean you are having feelings of guilt and so you are turning the aggression on yourself through your dream. On a more positive note, a dream of committing suicide may suggest that you are saying good-bye to one aspect of yourself and becoming a renewed, better person.

If you see someone else commit suicide in your dream, you are feeling concerned for that person. Also consider what characteristics and qualities in that person you may be trying to “kill” and annihilate in your own self. Perhaps you hope that you are not like that person in some way and are making attempts to get rid of those traits within your own self.
