Hanging

Depth Psychology: Dreaming about a hanging indicates that you are presently in a very important developmental stage.

Vision: Dreaming about an ocean harbor means building a solid foundation for your life and the promise of a worry-free old age. Seeing a lot of ships in the harbor: news that you can put to use to make a good profit. Being on a ship that is about to enter a harbor: good financial opportunities or hopes coming true.

The first is that it is a death and so it relates to the sacrifice that comes along with great change and transformation.

The person dying by hanging represents a part of yourself that may be being released or let go of in order for something new to come along to replace it. Because hanging involves the neck, issues of communication and the voice may be part of the meaning of such a symbol. Consider again the person who is hanging in the dream. Once you understand the character aspect of what part of your personality the individual represents, you may consider whether that part of you is choking off your ability to have a more authentic voice in some aspect of your life.

1- Hanging is a violent act against a person, therefore if we are present at a hanging we are being party to violence and perhaps need to reconsider our actions.

If we ourselves are being hanged, we are being warned of some difficulty ahead.

2- If we are conscious in our dream of something hanging up. there may be word association, in that literally there is a ‘hang up’ in our lives.

If something is hanging over us. then we are being threatened by circumstances around us.

3- Spiritual suppression could be at work here.

If so, the dreamer needs to find out where the suppression originated and then handle the situation from there on in.
