Universal Landscape: Obstacles to movement; emotional overwhelm.

Dreaming Lens: Were you stuck in quicksand? Was someone else in the quicksand? Were you attempting to save someone or yourself from sliding deeper into quicksand? Was someone trying to save you? Did you successfully avoid falling into quicksand? What environment was the quicksand in?

Personal Focus: Quicksand is Earth and water in a treacherous combination whereby the water is abundant and the makeup of the Earth is such that the water is not readily absorbed. The result is land that appears solid but is anything but, and stepping into it can be dangerous—even deadly. If you or someone else is stuck in quicksand in a dream, it may be reflecting something in your life that is causing you to be stuck and this stuckness may be putting you in some sort of danger.

Any time water is present with regard to a symbol, issues of emotionality are in play. Since quicksand’s water content is essentially imperceptible until you find yourself engulfed in it, your interpretation should reflect this sense of being initially unaware of the danger and the astonishment of discovering that you are suddenly in peril. In this way, the emotionality of the situation inspiring the dream may not be readily apparent. However, once you are immersed in it, there is enough feeling and confusion to drag you down into immobility and overwhelm. This symbol in a dream may be an indication that there are emotional issues that you have not been aware of up until this point. Having been stopped in your tracks by these issues, you are being forced to go deeper (hence sinking into the quicksand) in order to deal with the matter(s) at hand.
