Adapting to difficult circumstances: Ancient people wore masks to help them commune with specific energies. Today, we don figurative masks and temporary per-sonas when faced with new, unfamiliar, or demanding situations. This results in stressing particular characteristics that help us cope in these new settings.
The element of surprise and mystery, like at a costumed dance where you wonder what’s behind the mask.
Emotions or ideas that abide in your subconscious may manifest through a dream mask’s color, shape, or depiction.
For example, a red mask that looks angry can reveal your own outrage that was either subdued or silenced.
Jungian: The dreamer’s connection to the archetypes in the Collective Unconscious, mediating therein between two distinct factions, such as the mundane and the supernatural aspects of self.

by Pamela BallTo dream of a mask often alerts us to cither our own or other people’s facade. When we are not being true to ourselves we can often experience this in dreams as a ‘negative’ or frightening mask.
2- When we are trying to protect ourselves and prevent other people knowing what we arc thinking or feeling, we ‘mask’ ourselves.
A mask appearing in a dream can therefore represent concealment. Additionally in primitive cultures, to wear a mask such as that of an animal gave the wearer the powers of that animal. In Shamanism that is still accepted today:
3- The Death Mask, either our own or another’s, can appear in dreams as a signal that it is time to put an end to a spiritual game we arc playing.

by GarudaVision: Looking at a mask: you are either trying to hide your true self or the dream is a warning of false friends or an intrigue. Don’t be fooled by others and don’t fool yourself! Seeing a person with a mask: a good friend is shamelessly deceiving you. Watching a masked ball or being at one: you like to play with the feelings of other people (consciously or unconsciously).
The dream might also be warning about other people who are playing with your affections.
