A desire for conquest.

For what are you currently hunting, and is it truly something over which you should try 7 to take dominion?

Is the creature used as food, or is it being hunted in sport? If for food, this may be a type of hunger dream, or representative of your need for fulfillment.

If being hunted in sport, the animal may symbolize a coveted object or person that remains elusive.

A potentially hazardous situation. Watch your footing.

The cooling of emotions or a relationship. Frigidity. Halted movement, feeling frozen and unable to act. Being frozen in ice: A type of death or cage dream.

An icicle: The masculine nature.

Making an ice carving: Chipping away at the walls that disguise the true self. Alternatively, a subliminal wish that the object portrayed (or its symbolic meaning) would either manifest or halt completely.

Hail: This ice falls from the sky and barrages the dreamers landscape, symbolizing a torrent of personal, social, political, or religious dogma that seems to overshadow simple, straightforward faith.

(1) A dream of hunting may be recollecting something recendy seen or read about. However, a dream whose contents are taken from recent experience may still have symbolic meaning.

(2) Try to identify with or ‘talk5 with both the hunter and the hunted. Usually they will be parts of yourself. Is the hunter your conscious ego? What part of you are you - unsuccessfully - trying to kill? An instinct? Your anima / animus? (For anima / animus, see Brother / Sister, sections

(3) In a man’s dream a deer may represent a (young) woman; the hunting may be a symbol of sexual pursuit, and sexual ‘conquest5. If so, what is the dream saying about your relations with women and, by implication, with your own anima?

Hunting for wildlife (or something else) can represent: Looking for something you lack, such as information, knowledge, enlightenment, power, self-confidence, self-esteem, a relationship, or a job.

An attempt to feel more powerful by dominating those you consider less powerful (perhaps based on feelings of powerlessness, denial, or lack of awareness).

A desire for an experience or a feeling unrelated to killing (such as solitude or relaxation).

For more clues, consider your feelings, your motivation, and the context.
