2- There are two types of hermit. One withdraws from life in order to live an entirely spiritual existence and knows that others will care for his bodily needs.

The other travels throughout the world using his knowledge and expertise to help others. In dreams if we meet the hermit, we are discovering the dimension in ourselves which has a spiritual awareness.

3- A holy man, or the Wise Old Man (see Introduction) will often appear in dreams as the hermit.

Dreams of a hermit symbolize your need to take time for yourself. Or if you’ve been in isolation, playing it safe, and avoiding intimacy for too long, this dream could be showing you that it is time to come out and be part of the living and take a risk.

The hermit also can symbolize that you are in a period of self reflection where you are reevaluating all that you’ve learned and are trying to find a sense of inner peace.
