HALF

1- Dreams can often have a very peculiar quality in that our image may only be half there or we perhaps only experience half an action. This usually indicates an incompleteness in us, being a sort of in-between state which means that we have to make decisions. Often it is about either going forward into the future or back into the past: completion or non- completion.

For instance, we may have half-completed a task and be aware of this, but do not know how to finish it. Often the dream images that appear can show us how to do this. Conversely, if in a dream we have only partially completed a task and are left feeling dissatisfied with what has happened, we perhaps need to consider in waking life what needs to be done to enable us to complete the action in the dream. What would we have done had we been able to complete it?

2- To have only half of what we feel we should have - for instance in quantity perhaps only to have half of the food or drink we had expected, indicates that we are possibly selling ourselves short. We are not allowing ourselves to have what we need.

To dream of being half way up a hill or a mountain or halfway down a river would indicate that there is some indecision. We are not as motivated as we should, or could, be to continue with the task we have in hand. We have made an initial effort but greater effort is needed in order to be where we want to be. This type of dream is very often to do with either motivating ourselves or others.

To continually dream of slipping back, until we are only halfway through our task, to be repeating it over and over again, would indicate that we do not have the ability to complete it. There is perhaps an extra skill that we need to enable us to achieve success.

Psychological / emotional perspective: To have only half of what we feel we should have – for instance, perhaps only to have half of the food or drink we had expected – indicates that we are selling ourselves short. We are not allowing ourselves to have what we need.

I walked to the front door, I started to walk past the front door, felt great fear and hung back, half behind the front door, for protection from her’ (Pamela H). Generally it means pan of; divided; incomplete; in between, conflict. Half open: opposing feelings about whether to be open’ or not—can I, can’t I, will I, won’t I? Halfway up/down: indecision; faltering motivation; some­times between the opposites, or outside one’s everyday experi­ence. Half full : may refer to half one’s life used up. Cut in half: conflict between intellect and body sexuality. Half bur­ied: something you are only partly aware of.
