YARDSTICK

1- Formerly, as a measuring tool, the yardstick represented correctness and rigidity. Since metrication and the changes that are taking place in the everyday world, it has less significance. It still, however, represents good judgement.

2- The yardstick represents the measurement of acceptable standards. In dreams this may represent standards of behaviour, belief or conformity.

3- Spiritually a yardstick symbolises the standards that we have set ourselves. We may wish to be re-assured that we are maintaining these standards fully.

The yardstick indicates that the dreamer wants to be realistic, or that there is no way of measuring up to the ideals of family or occupation.

The yardstick becomes a symbol for an obstacle.

1. Ready to measure one’s success in some area.

2. About to measure something to see if one has done it correctly.

3. Fear of being “trimmed” (old-fashioned).
