1- To have a stake in something is to have made a commitment, either on a material or emotional level.
To be putting stakes in the ground suggests marking out one’s territorv.
2- Psychologically we may experience a sense of being staked out. This can represent that we have been conned into doing something we do not want to do.
3- The stake is a symbol of torture or death by fire in a spiritual ideal.
