Ten Thousand Dream Dictionary
by Pamela Ball1- The scythe is a cutting instrument, and therefore has the same significance as a knife (See Weapons). In dreams it usually suggests that we need to cut out non-essential actions or beliefs.
We need to be fairly ruthless in order to achieve a desired end.
2- The scythe is a very old- fashioned symbol for the passage of time. Its appearance in dreams shows we arc linking with very deeply held concepts and ideas. We are becoming aware of the fact that the cutting off of life - or energy may be imminent around us, although it need not be our own death. It may be that part of us can no longer provide us with what we want.
3- The scythe, like the hour glass, is often held by the figure of Death and represents the ending of physical existence.
Gypsy Dream Dictionary
by Raymond BucklandIf you are the one with the scythe, then you feel the need to cut back on something, or put an end to an action or situation.
If you see the “Grim Reaper”— a robed or unrobed skeletal figure with a scythe—it does not necessarily mean death. It could indicate a death to come, but it could just as easily indicate the coming end of a job, situation, relationship, or whatever. Don’t forget that where there are endings there are new beginnings, and therefore, new opportunities.
My Dream Interpretation
by myjellybeanIf someone else had the scythe, the dream represents aspects of your personality that are negative or repressed.
If you dreamed of using a sycthe to make your way through green fields, this is an omen of great happiness to come. You are going through a period of personal growth, and you will overcome the challenges facing you.
