The Big Dictionary of Dreams

by Martha Clarke
This dream sometimes refers to those bad habits and attitudes that will cease to be so after they fade.

If snow is melting it shows that your insensitivity begins to warm up. Perhaps, you have behaved in a really cold manner (in terms of emotions) and the time is right to change this. Similarly, the circumstances that kept you paralyzed in real life may begin to be easier.

According to popular superstition, dreaming of melting gold portends sadness; if silver, economic problems; and if it is ice, a situation that gets out of control.

A Dictionary of Dream Symbols

by Eric Ackroyd
(1) Melting snow or ice probably means that repressed emotions should / can be allowed freedom of expression in your life. The only thing that can do the melting is love: total acceptance, encouragement and (where necessary) forgiveness of all the contents of your unconscious.

(2) Is metal melting in fire? It may symbolize the transforming - from base to noble or spiritual - of some (despised? ‘animal’ / physical?) part of yourself.

(see Ice, Snow)

Transformations that lead to liberation.

Warming affections, improved compassion and benevolence (e.g., the “melting of a hardened heart”).

Flow, freedom, and forgiveness. What’s melting here has great significance.

For example, metals in a forge speak directly to a personal change that liberates you from old structures.
