KIDNAP

1- If we find ourselves being kidnapped within a dream, we are conscious of the fact that our own fears and doubts can make us victims. We are being overcome by our own “demons’, which have ganged up on us and caused us to become insecure.

2- In dreams we mav find ourselves trying to kidnap someone else and this would indicate, at its simplest level, that we are trying to influence someone else. It may also suggest that we are trying to absorb some quality from the other person which is not freely available.

3- Some sort of psychic theft may be symbolised here, or on a darker level a thread of spiritual vampirism may be running through the dreamer’s subconscious.

It is up to the dreamer thoroughly to define this image.

A kidnapper takes a child and holds him or her for ransom. In this way, the child becomes the symbol of something treasured and valuable, such as innocence or possibility.

The ransom suggests that this quality is being forced as a sacrifice for something of more material value. Such a dream may arise when you are feeling like you must compromise your values in such a way to accomplish a goal.

If you are a parent, such a dream could also be a reflection of parental anxiety.

If you were kid- napped in your dream, you are likely to be embar- rassed by the company you have been keeping; a change of companions would probably be bene- ficial. However, if you did the kidnapping, you are being warned to guard your valuables against theft or loss, and if you can’t do that, then be sure your insurance is in order. To dream of a kidnapping in which you were not personally involved is a sign of sudden important changes in the offing.
