Eyeglasses

Symbol: Wearing glasses is a symbol of virtue, moderation, and balance.

Vision: Losing glasses: you will find intrigue and lies in your immediate surroundings. Somebody putting glasses on you is a suggestion to think honestly about whether you are too easily influenced by others; you are putty in their hands. Wearing glasses: you want to get a better understanding of your life and are doing just that. Someone else wearing dark glasses: someone in your immediate surroundings wants to hide his/her true intentions—be careful.

Depth Psychology: A pair of glasses is often a symbol of a distorted view of the world.

The unconscious is making itself known: a matter or a person needs to be reexamined; it may also mean that you see the world through “rose-colored glasses.” See Blindness.

Help, or an obstacle to seeing something more clearly. Refers to your own perception and the courage to hold to your own subjective convictions. Insight, vision, perspective, as in Eye, and sometimes Bird, but with assistance. Also an expression of your own emotions that are either endangered, protected, or sharpened. Sunglasses point to summer, vacation, and Blending. Also “seeing the world through rose-colored glasses.” Protective glasses point to work.

If the person in the dream normally wears eyeglasses then this symbol is an extension of daily life. However, if the person does not wear glasses, or the glasses are the focal point in the dream, several interpretations could be made. You may need to do a “reality check” or ask yourself if you are seeing the world through “rose colored glasses.” Either way, your unconscious mind may be encouraging you to make an attempt to see things more clearly.
