(1) In both senses of the word - undergrowth, as well as the implement with brisdes. The brush may be a sexual symbol, representing pubic hair. (In Australia a girl or young woman is sometimes called a brush.)

(2) A cleaning brush may be saying something about your attitude towards cleanliness or tidiness. Are you obsessed with these things? If so, what guilt-feelings are you trying to hide?

(3) Are you brushing your teeth? If so, perhaps it is saying you need to be careful about how you speak to people; or perhaps you are anxious about getting older.

The usefulness of a brush is clear: it serves to remove dust. Therefore, this element in dreams reflects the need to recover your values, because the unconscious is reminding you that some superficial feelings are changing your principles. (See TO SWEEP)

Brushes and brooms have plenty of superstitions.

It is bad luck to step on them and they can “sweep” away your good luck. Usually, omens are not very advantageous. Anyway, if you dream that you brush your hair, a new and exciting companion in adventure will show up in your life.
